Trip to Town continues

Getting Risky
Now the excitement begins for real.
during the summer this whole flat is the mouth of the river where it dumps into the Lynn Canal.
we knew the salt water does not freeze as solid or as soon as fresh water.
so we went fast from one stump to another, which we were assuming were on shallow sand bars.
We were feeling quite relieved to make it here, due to the unstable appearance of the large area just crossed!
We are both parked very close to a stump.

Real Salt Water!
This photo was taken after we crossed.
In the far distance you can see the white which is the snow we just left in the photo above,
Here the tide was coming in and was turning the whole bay into a huge green slushy.
We debated a long time if we should back track or go ahead. The airport and it's dike, were on the right side in the photo.
We could see the Kluckwan yard on the other side if we could only get there, but this would be one of our longest skips yet and it was full of slush and Ice chunks.
Sean decided to go, and of course I followed.

To scared to take a photo!
Sean said he thought the slush would make good traction, but as soon as he jumped out onto it he changed his mind.
The slush gave no traction and bogged the sled down.
If it was not for the chunks of Ice to climb onto that gave traction every now and then we would have gone down for sure.
Not one of the smartest things we have ever done, but I don't suppose it will be the last.

Miles Furniture
So here we are in town! Glad to still have our sleds.
we stopped in to see Dennise at his furniture shop, you should drop in and buy something!
That was a great trip, and now we don't have to do that one again!
