River Experience

Greg decided a guy shouldn't have to much fun in one day so he cinched up his courage and skipped his sled back across the river, whithout incident I might add, and headed back to the roadhouse.
For clarity, the island he jumped over is where he is heading in this photo, The river divided around this island, he will stop on the island and then turn left to cross to the far side of the photo, where he started from originally.
Being one sled down, we made a few more river crossings and two turned back at one of the crossings, to much stress can do that to a guy.
Here we have Mike who thought he was through some of the wet, just to find himself sinking. the river is in a state of "overflow" which means that it has backed up by an ice dam and flows over the banks flooding a large area of normaly dry ground. this overflow can be deep yet stay hidden below the snowpack that was already there.
Further up the river we find the remains of what was a full river due to ice damming, then when it broke loose it drained the river back to it's normal state leaving the scarred banks as evidence. This is probably where the overflow we found came from.
Having left most of the difficulty behind we were able to enjoy the opportunities provided by the uneven valley floor. Here is Sean taking advantage of a nice bank.
