Walker Crash

Here we are now back in some of our favorite haunts, Sean is looking over a spot we alway think we should be able to launch off but conditions always prevent our ambition.

Well, that is until today!

On the left side of this patch of trees, on the left, is this great hill to climb (Those are two sleds on top now.) The hill has bumps, alder lumps, ditches, bad angles into undesirable places, and all sorts of nasty obstacles to attract us. Often when the snow is to soft we are unable to reach the top, but we always give it a good try, and many a sled has received unplanned alterations on this hill in the process!

Today was no exception!

Here is where I wish I could show you the video! We all saw Trevor working like a madman trying to get his sled to the top, but the bumps buck like a wild mule and he ended up stalled just at the base of the top. As we watched he broke it loose and it headed down hill, dragging him, then bucked him off and continued down, jumping, bumping but always pointed down. Sean yells at it; "not the big hump!" but just like a rebelious teen, It heads right for it, doing a wonderful swan dive right off the hump, and we all heard this horrible "CRACK!" as it arched out of sight behind the hump.
Trev didn't appear to be to happy about it, and I was quite certain we would simply ride away having created a new squirrel habitat. Here we see Trevor trudging down to survey the damage.
It was a heck of a jump and did just miss the huge tree, but we stood there contemplating just how it came to rest as it did, stuck like an arrow into the snowbank.
