Upper Walker Lakes,  Via the "yarder trail"
Dec. 30, 2003

First real ride of the season.
It had been cold for a while and was now warm and snowing, enough snow for a ride before the year was over.

Sean, Steven, Me, Jeff Lapp, Daniel Martin, and Creithon Lapp.
Last minuet decisions on destination.

Not for the weak of heart
Jeff Lapp grew up here, now in Fairbanks but down for the holidays, on our first of several river crossings.

Yarder Hill
Sean at the start of the "can we make it today" hill, you can see the yarder cable in the photo.
The snow was great to make you work at it but still get there!

Another climb
This way in is always lots of fun because, depending on the snow, it is a real challenge to get through. lots of big hills that once you commit to going down, have got to be climbed again on the way back.
